Cape Cod, Provincetown, Massachusetts, August 2023

Cape Cod! Beautiful little towns and villages! It was raining so I couldn’t get any picture! Bummer!! But it was beautiful anyway.

We drove up the 6A for the scenic route right through all the towns. The 6A is also the Old Kings Highway. The Old Kings Highway was the only highway that went up and down the East coast at first. Many parts of it still exist, and the 6A is one of them. Of course, it’s paved now. It was dirt and brick in parts at first.

First on the route was Bourne, the first town along the 6A on the Cape. Then we drove through Sandwich, the oldest town on the Cape. Very pretty.

Then through Barnstable which is actually a collection of villages. One of those villages is Hyannis where the Kennedy compound is. The Kennedy estate is on the beach there on Cape Cod.

Across the water is Martha’s Vineyard which includes Edgartown and Chappaquiddick where Ted Kennedy drove off a bridge into the Poucha Pond and Mary Joe Kopechne drowned.

Next was Yarmouth, Dennis and Brewster with many beautiful historic homes.

In between each of the towns was beautiful with beautiful old homes.

A few more towns before we reached Provincetown. In north Truro, we took Shore Rd. for a beautiful scenic drive along the water and the beach. Very cool are the beach bungalow and condominiums along the way.

Once we entered Provincetown, we took Commercial Street for an awesome drive along the beach town homes and shops along this street.

Then we went to the Pilgrim’s Monument. Got a couple of not so good pictures. And we could get out and see it up close. Oh well.

Next we drove to the actual spot where the Mayflower actually first landed in America. They landed here first before they went on the Plymouth to settle. Here it is. Still raining!
