Lake Weir, Florida, May 20, 2022

After exploring Ocala National Forest and having lunch in Silver Springs, we explored a few towns. One of these towns was Weirsdale, right on Lake Weir. Very cool small town.

And while there we stopped at Eaton’s Beach Sandbar and Grill. This place is awesome! The restaurant is right on the lake and has it’s own beach!

We had dessert there. I had pecan pie and Jerry had orange juice cake. Oh my goodness! They were both deadly!

The pecan pie was truly authentic southern pecan pie, just like I make at home, just like my mom taught me. When we lived in Arkansas (Bald Knob! Yes, it’s a real town), we had a pecan tree in the back yard and we used to help mom crack the pecans for pecan pie. We ate a lot of them! But she had plenty left over for the best pie you’d ever eat. It’s a favorite at all family gatherings to this day. And this pie i got here was the first pecan I have ever had that tasted just like it!

And the orange juice cake! Oh my gosh! Neither of us had ever heard of it. It was so good. I will definitely be trying to make that myself as well.
